Achiving The Nerdery Employee Wall View the archived employee wall Why I found a 2016 snapshot of The Nerdery’s “Meet the Nerds” page on the Wayback Machine and wanted a permanent, offline-viewable copy — no dependency on archive.org staying up or the snapshot staying indexed. How I pulled down the page HTML along with its stylesheets, scripts, fonts, and every background image referenced by the site’s CSS, then rewrote all the asset paths to point at local copies instead of web.archive.org. The result is a fully self-contained static copy: open index.html and it renders identically, offline, with no archive.org toolbar or rewrite scripts in the way. Employees Missing Some may notice that their picture is not included. Thats because the Nerdery would remove your photo from the wall if you left the company. The archive I found and put together was the latest archive that I could find from 2016. In the future I’ll try to make a more definite timeline of the wall. Important Note One thing that didn’t survive: clicking a person in the photo grid. That feature calls a JSON API endpoint per-person, and archive.org’s crawler only ever captured those URLs as redirects, not the actual JSON responses — so the interactive detail view was already broken in the original snapshot, not something lost in this process. Updated Website

New Website I was browsing for inspiration on a new website and I came across z0m.bi and couldn’t help myself from emailing them. Their website is so creating and well thought out that I had to email and see how they had done it and with what tech stack. They were so nice and encouraging that by the end of the email exchange I knew I wanted to make a new website for myself with them in mind. Design I took direct inspiration from z0m.bi but I wanted to expand on it. See Z0m.bi has a little ASCII human that you can play with. I wanted a world for that human. A planet with trees, buildings, other people and more. Seeding a World Minecraft came to mind how the world is always changing and growing from a single seed. The seed is random at first but you can enter your own if you want. Growing A World Every 10 Minutes Every 10 minutes you can see the world grow. A description of your world will change as it grows and over time it will cover the entire frame of the webpage. You can even save it to PNG if you want. Blog Posts My previous webpage had blog posts but didn’t have image support. So I now have that with a new tool written in python for serving the webpage and javascript puts everything in the correct place with the right formatting. Project Posts Very similar to blog posts but with direct access to projects and not so much word vomit. More direction with posts. Conclusion You never know what you’ll find on the internet but I’m excited for this little webpage and to change it more over time.
